A skin condition that mostly affects the face, the back, and the upper parts of the torso, acne is primarily caused by changes in the hormonal balance and/or the bacterium, propionibacterium acnes. Therefore, fighting acne can be a battle targeted to either or both causes. Natural herbal extracts high in antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties can provide a deep skin cleansing that destroys P. acnes, leaving skin less prone to acne. Other herbs can help minimize acne by restoring the body's hormonal balance, having far less or no side effects.
While mostly experienced by teens, acne still affects many adults. Herbal extracts are a viable and effective option for dealing with acne for those who don't want to use prescription medication, which often has undesirable side effects.
We created this product in 2004, mostly intended to address acneic adult skin, yet gentle enough to be used by teens. Soon it became our most sought-after product. The original formula has been improved twice with the addition of new ingredients, based on updated literature and research on the subject.
The formula contains ingredients naturally rich in phytophenols with strong antiseptic, anti fungal, antibiotic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. These ingredients have been used for generations as an effective herbal remedy for controlling both chronic and mild acne, as well as for fading acne scars and hyper-pigmentation caused by acne break outs. Other ingredients with soothing, moisturizing, and nourishing properties were added to help keep the skin hydrated and nourished.
Copaíba (Copaífera Officinalis): The active properties of Copaiba resin are due to a group of phytochemicals called sesquiterpenes diterpenes and terpenic acids. Copaiba resin is the highest known natural source of caryophyllene, which has been extensively documented as having powerful anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and anti-fungal properties.
Pracaxi (Pentaclethra Filamentosa): With an impressive 19% of behenic acid, Pracaxi Oil has antiseptic, anti fungal, anti-hemorrhagic, and moisturizing properties. Its amazing ability to speed cellular renewal helps to prevent undesirable scars left after bouts of acne.
Amaranth Grains Oil: In addition to being an extraordinary moisturizer, Amaranth Oil has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that help reduce acne flare-ups by calming inflammation and removing bacteria from the skin.
Dong Quai Extract: Also known as female ginseng, this extract is made from the dried roots of Angelica Sinensis. The presence of estrogen-like phytochemicals in Dong Quai makes it excellent at combatting acne because it inhibits the effect of the androgen on the sebaceous follicles.
Maracuja Oil: Unrefined Maracuja Oil is a rich source of vitamin C, calcium, iron, and phosphorus and is exceptionally rich in linoleic acid (75%), with soothing, moisturizing and nourishing properties. It is non-comedogenic and easily absorbed by the skin.
Tamanu Oil: Tamanu Oil has potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic, and antioxidant properties. Calcophylic acid and a lactone with antibiotic properties are believed to be responsible for the oil’s amazing ability to rebuild the skin.
Arnica Extract: A popular herbal remedy for acne, Arnica has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for acne-prone skin. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Neem Oil: Neem Oil is considered one of the most effective oils to fight acne due to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.
Tree Lichen Extract: In addition to essential amino acids, vitamins, and carotene, Tree Lichen Extract contains usnic acid and derivatives. It has anti-oxidative and antibacterial properties that studies have shown to have a powerful "inhibition effect" on the growth of P. acnes.
Willow Bark Extract: Willow Bark Extract is a source of a natural salicylic acid-like ingredient and known for its antimicrobial properties. Tests have shown that it helps fight Staphylococci aureus and Propionibacterium acnes, the two strains of bacteria implicated in the formation of acne.
Licorice Root extract: Used for hundreds of years, Licorice Root Extract has anti-inflammatory properties and can help relieve the swelling caused by inflamed acne cysts and nodules. Licorice Root should be avoided by pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Organic Teatree EO: This EO is used to treat skin infections due to its high content of terpenoids with antimicrobial properties that help to destroy acne causing bacteria.
Niaouli (Melaleuca viridiflora): This EO has analgesic, antiseptic, and bactericidal properties, among others, and can inhibit bacterial growth. As a cicatrizant, Niaouli Oil helps to reduce scarring left by acne and pimples. This oil also speeds up the growth of new tissues and cells, replacing the damaged tissue of the scars, which ultimately fade away.
Lemon (Citrus Limonum) EO: Considered one of the most effective anti-acne essential oils, Lemon Essential Oil is loaded with antioxidants and vitamins as well as antimicrobial and antiseptic properties.
Juniper Essential Oil: Due to its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, juniper berry is one of the most common herbal remedies for fighting skin irritations and infections.
Scentless Garlic EO: Garlic is highly effective at combating acne due to its antibacterial properties.
Coriander Essential Oil: Coriander is high in several vitamins and minerals and also has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. It helps to soothe irritated skin. Adding Coriander to your diet regularly will help control redness, irritation, and prevent acne flare-ups.
Chamomile Essential Oil: Chamomile is a very effective treatment for acne. Its soothing properties help to reduce swelling and inflammation and help speed the healing of acne breakouts. Due to its cellular renewal properties, it helps prevent acne scars.
Turmeric Essential Oil: Known as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient, Turmeric Essential Oil helps to reduce inflammation, swelling, and redness.
