Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) Seed Oil
Who's never seen a face with slices of cucumbers over the eyes? Cucumbers have been used for years to rest, brighten, and nourish the skin, typically in either sliced, grated, or water form.
Thanks to new technology, we can also take advantage of the great properties of the cucumber seeds. The seed oil, extracted by cold pressing, is then filtered with no further processing. The seeds - depending of the variety and the drying and filtering processes - typically yield a light gold yellow to light green oil containing high levels of Linoleic, Oleic, and Palmitic Fatty Acids with an aromatic scent resembling that of fresh cucumber. Unrefined Cucumber Seed Oil has a light texture, yet it is highly nourishing and easily absorbed by the skin. Due to its cooling effect, cucumber can be used as a natural toner and, being rich in astringent properties, it also helps to control and balance the skin's natural oil production.
- Unrefined Cucumber Seed Oil contains elevated amounts of phytosterols (the unsaponifiable portion of the oil responsible for most of its therapeutic, healing benefits), which play an important role in encouraging the production and regeneration of healthy skin cells.
- Cucumber Seed Oil is great used by itself as a mild moisturizer for dry skin with eczema and scaling (a common symptom of psoriasis), acne-prone skin, and sunburned skin.
- Our Cucumber Seed Oil is extracted from organically cultivated cucumber fruits, cold pressed in an FDA registered food facility, but the oil itself is not certified organic.
